Audels Engineers and Mechanics Guide 2 is part of Frank D. Graham’s eight-volume reference series covering modern engineering practice. First published in 1921, the series provided practical technical instruction for engineers, mechanics, students, and industrial workers.

Volume 2 focuses on Corliss engines, uniflow engines, pumping engines, and traction engines. Its question-and-answer lessons explain how these machines were constructed, operated, regulated, lubricated, and maintained.

Corliss and uniflow engines were developed to improve the efficiency of stationary steam power, while pumping engines supplied water for municipal and industrial systems. Steam traction engines brought similar power into agriculture, road construction, and other mobile applications.
